It was huge! It was massive!
What an incredible Diwali celebration we just witnessed at Little India, Harris Park! One of the biggest Diwali events in NSW, with over 40,000 people coming together to celebrate the Festival of Lights. The energy was electrifying—the smiles, the laughter, the food, the spectacular performances—it was a celebration like no other!
The event was graced by several dignitaries who joined in the celebration and even danced to some Bollywood tunes! A heartfelt thanks to Andrew Charlton MP, Mark Buttigieg (representing the Premier of NSW), Donna Davis MP, Julia Finn MP, and our esteemed councillors Sameer Pandey, Barbara Ward, Clr Patricia Prociv, Steven Issa - Liberal for Rosehill - Former Lord Mayor, Pradeep Pathi, Councillor Sreeni Pillamarri, Immanuel Selvaraj, Mohit Kumar, Michael NG, Katie Mullens - Liberal Candidate for Parramatta and many others for their presence and support.
A huge round of applause for Gurmeet Tuli, President of Little India Australia, and his fantastic team—Parag Shah, Nitin Setia, and Tarun Khurana—for organizing this mammoth event! You have outdone yourselves. Special congratulations to Gurnam Singh AISECS for executing the event so smoothly and to Swastik School Of Dance And Music Academy for organizing the mesmerizing cultural performances that kept the crowd cheering all day long.
Indians in Sydney is incredibly proud to have been an associate partner for such a vibrant and joyous occasion. The entire Wigram Street was filled with people, their spirits high, their faces lit up with excitement and pride. It was a day to remember, and this event truly showed how Diwali is about unity, joy, and the power of community.
Our deepest gratitude goes out to the NSW Police Force Parramatta Police Area Command and the City of Parramatta council for their support in making this event not just possible, but a resounding success. Your efforts ensured that everything ran smoothly and safely, and for that, we are deeply thankful.
Diwali is a celebration of light, and today we saw the brightest of lights—the light of togetherness, shared joy, and love for our community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event unforgettable.
Happy Diwali to all, and let’s continue to spread the light!
